Welcome to the Industrial Workshop of the Development Section at Sabah Al Ahmad Center for Giftedness and Creativity. It was established with the aim of supporting inventors and innovators in transforming their ideas into practical prototypes by providing a comprehensive environment that includes modern equipment, advanced technical software, and a specialized team. The workshop offers a variety of services to develop ideas and turn them into tangible realities.
WORKSHOP SERVICES
Technical consultations for developing engineering ideas
Assisting inventors and innovators in developing their ideas and transforming them into practical prototypes. This is achieved by providing technical consultations, such as evaluating the feasibility of the idea and offering technical solutions through suggestions for improvements to the idea and its functions. Guidance is also provided on using the best technologies, such as design software, material selection, and implementation through 3D printing or various manufacturing systems.
2D and 3D engineering design
2D engineering design is characterized by its simplicity, relying only on length and width, and is used for designing flat components, such as acrylic sheets and parts made from metal sheets. On the other hand, 3D design is more complex, involving the creation of 3D models that are then precisely assembled to avoid errors before implementation. Detailed manufacturing plans for all parts of the project are also prepared. The choice of design type depends on the project's concept.
3D printing
3D printing technology is used in executing certain projects, with the workshop offering various types of printers, such as FDM and SLA, in different sizes. Each printer has its own manufacturing software (CAM) used to prepare project parts and convert them into a format that can be read by the printer (G-Code).
Acrylic laser cutting
Laser cutting machines are characterized by their speed, efficiency, and precision, allowing for cutting different thicknesses of acrylic materials, providing flexibility in project applications. A specialized manufacturing software is used to prepare the design and convert it into a format that can be read by the machine.
Metal sheet cutting using a waterjet
The Desktop Wazer Waterjet cutting machine is used for executing small-scale projects. This technology can cut any type of soft or hard materials, such as metals, stone, ceramics, glass, rubber, plastic, and leather. It allows cutting along any curve or plane. It operates as a completely cold cutting system (non-heat emitting) and is environmentally friendly. A specialized manufacturing software is used to prepare the design and convert it into a format that can be read by the machine.
Preparation of engineering drawings for patents
The goal is to transform inventors' ideas into precise and professional drawings that align with the requirements of international patent offices. This service includes designing and illustrating the technical and functional details of the invention in a way that highlights the innovation and facilitates the patent registration process, while adhering to the required technical and legal standards.
